Candidate hustings have been organised in Bristol ahead of the General Election on 12th December 2019.
Are you planning to attend?
Ask a question of the candidates
If you are attending, would you ask a question about the candidates position on advertising? Here’s an example from us:
In recent years, Bristol residents have sent hundreds of objections for new digital advertising screens across our city. Large new advertising screens can use the electricity of more than 10 UK homes, and the adverts themselves perpetuate consumerism that hurts our environment along with our mental health, personal finances and local economy.
Would the candidates agree to support a review of the current national planning legislation and local planning policy governing outdoor advertising?
Putting anti-advertising on the agenda
This is a great opportunity to bring the problems of advertising to people’s minds, both at a national level with our future representatives, with those involved in campaigning at a local level, and with the public who attend the events.
We’d love to hear what each of the candidates think about our campaign. If you get the opportunity to speak to any of them, please let us know what they say!
