‘Burg Arts’ Community Arts Billboard. Meet the Artist – Drop In Session

Adblock Bristol is excited to be working on the resurrection of the Burg Arts project, a community arts project that will showcase new artwork on a disused billboard in St Werburghs, Bristol as an alternative to corporate advertising.
Four artworks will be installed on the billboard throughout 2018, in partnership with local community groups.  There is an opportunity to feed ideas in at a ‘Meet the Artist’ drop in session in Better Food Cafe.  See below for details.

‘Burg Arts’ Community Arts Billboard.
Meet the Artist – Drop In Session
Monday 18th December 2017
5pm – 7pm
@ Better Food Cafe, St Werburghs

Burg Arts is a community arts project using a disused billboard above St Werburghs Food & Wine.   Throughout 2018, new artwork will be displayed on the billboard that aims to reflect the ethos of the St Werburghs neighbourhood, in contrast to the commercial messages on the surronding corporate billboards.

Our first artist, Matt Bonner, will be creating a piece in the New Year 2018 and is looking to hear the views of local residents on the following questions:

  • What do we like about living in St Werburghs?
  • What do we think abut the number of corporate billboard lining York Road in St Werburghs?

Come along to the Better Food cafe to hear more about the project and contribute your ideas and feelings for the artwork.  This informal drop-in session is open to all residents living locally to the St Werburghs and surrounding neighbourhoods.  Email adblockbristol [at] gmail.com for more info.
