Join Adblock Bristol’s Ideas Jam

Adblock Bristol are running an Ideas Workshop, all welcome!

Where? The Base for Anarchy & Solidarity in Easton (BASE), 14 Robertson Road, BS5 6JY.

When? 7-9pm on Wednesday 23rd February.

In our first event of the year, we’re running an ‘Ideas Jam’ to come together to share and develop our vision for a city free from ads. We’ll bring the post-its and food, you bring your lovely selves – and any ideas you’ve got knocking about! All welcome, no previous adblocking experience required.

Since starting up in 2017, Adblock has worked with communities to block around 30 new large digital ad screens from taking up space in Bristol, as well as 25 smaller screens. But we’ve been up to plenty more besides this core work! We’ve been opening opportunities for arts, community and nature over advertising, from the community-owned Burg Arts board in St Werburgh’s, to covering up and replacing ads with community conversations, to landing an ethical advertising policy that will see a ban on junk food, alcohol, gambling and pay day loans on council-owned advertising sites across the city.

Plans for the workshop include a brief introduction to Adblock Bristol and a ‘World Cafe’ style interactive session where we envision an ad-free Bristol and cook up some plans for how to get there. We’ll build an ‘Ideas Library’ that we can share widely and refer back to.

We’d love to see you there! Feel free to drop us an email if you’d like more details, and if you’re thinking of coming along it would be great to know, so we have an idea of numbers: adblockbristol@gmail.com
